Happy 5th Birthday Aidan & Brooke!

Happy 5th Birthday Aidan and Brooke!  I got the honor of making these super cute twin's display birthday cake for their Pirates and Mermaids birthday party this past weekend!  This is a display cake, so the inside is styrofoam, and the outside is decorated with real fondant.  My cousin, Chi Hai (Thi) asked me to make this 4 tiered cake based off of a reference picture she found online, so this is not my original design, I only simply recreated it, with some minor adjustments, like the color of the mermaid fins and hair, and added more clouds around the cake. I used luster dust to paint the pearls on the side bottom of the cake, and I used skewers inside the posts on the pirate ship to hold up the posts and the sails.  This was a fun cake to make and I'm glad the kids enjoyed it at their party!  It was fun to watch everywhere waiting to eat the cake not knowing the cake wasn't real inside! haha!  Also, thank you to my husband Khoa for helping roll out fondant to make my work load a little bit easier =).  What will I ever do without you?

I wish Aidan and Brooke the most special 5th birthday!  I hope all your birthday wishes comes trues, Cau Mo Ba loves you both so much!!!  These are seriously the smartest, cutest, so full of personality 5 years I know!!  Happy 5th Birthday Aidan &Brooke!

Nathan's 1st Birthday!

Happy 1st Birthday Nathan!  I had the pleasure of making Nathan's parent's baby shower cake last year, and now Nathan is 1 years old!  Amazing how time flies!  The theme for his 1st birthday is Ferrari race cars!  I made the edible cake on top of a 3 tiered cake, while Nathan's talented mom, Ha, and his aunt made the fake bottom two tiers.  They are so crafty and talents, it's great to see the whole cake put together.  It looks amazing!  The cake I made was a Givral mixed berry cake, (I didn't bake it due to time and health reasons, but Ha love givral's cakes so I got the cake from them and decorated the cake myself!).  I covered the cake in yellow fondant, and make the race car, checkered number 1, and border our of fondant.  I used cardstock paper and cake cake pop sticks to make the "Finished" banner on top of the cake!

Ha sent me some wonderful pictures from the party, and it was so fun with all the race car decorations, and they even had really cool cardboard box race cars for all the kids to play and race around in!  What an amazingly fun birthday party!  You are so loved Nathan, and I'm so happy I got to be a part of it.  I wish you many many more birthdays filled with so much joy and happiness, Happy 1st Birthday Nathan!

Happy Baby Shower!

Happy Baby Shower Katie!!  I got the pleasure of making a My Neighbor Totoro themed baby shower cake for Katie, who's awaiting her precious baby boy Kyle!  The cake is a mixed berry cake from Givral and I covered the cake with white fondant and made all the decorations from fondant as well.  The flag is made from a toothpick and cardstock and the spikes on the little black character are brown sprinkles!  The cake was a nice centerpiece at their super cute dessert table, and I'm so glad I got to help make Katie and her husband's day special!!!  We know your baby will bring so much joy to all, happy baby shower Katie, congratulations!!

Superhero Birthday!

Happy 3rd birthday to Maddoc, a superhero cake for a super little boy!!  This cake is a chocolate cake covered with all fondant decorations.  His mom, Donna, asked me to make this cake that someone else made with all these superheros on it.  Spiderman sits on top, and on the sides are Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Superman, and Batman at the belt around the bottom of the cake!  I got to use a lot of practice with my freehand knife cutting to make the Iron Man, Batman, and Superman logos.  I used an edible black marker to draw in the Spiderman's webs on his face as well.  It was a lot of fun seeing this cake come together, and I have to give major thanks and props to my husband, Khoa, for helping me make all the colors and rolling out all the fondant for this project!  Thank you so much honey cakes!!
Maddoc I wish you the greatest 3rd birthday, and I hope you have many many more fun and exciting birthdays to come!!

Happy 1st Birthday Lily!

Happy 1st birthday to our sweet and precious Lily!!!  I cannot believe it's already been 1 year since our little dragon baby was born!  For her birthday, I wanted to be extra special so I made sure I made almost everything myself!  I made French Vanilla Mini Cupcakes with Swiss Meringue Frosting, Oreo Truffles (thanks Natalia for dipping them!!), Cheesecake Brownies, and 6 types of Macarons (rose, mango, lemon, macha green tea, vanilla, and raspberry)!  Since her party was held at the pavilion in front of our house, I made her a display cake instead of a real cake because I didn't want it to melt in the heat.  The display cake is decorated with royal icing piped along the outside so that when it dries, it hardens.  The rest of the decorations are made of fondant.  We ordered a mixed berry cake from Givral, that wasn't decorated since we were just going to cut it up and serve it!

Lily had a special Smash Cake session a few days before her birthday so we can capture her first time eating cake!  Also, this is convenient because not only do we get super nice photos from it, but it allows Lily to get all frosted up and covered with cake goodness, and then we can hose her down and not worry about time or keeping her party guests waiting while we do so!   I made her cake myself, it's French Vanilla with swiss meringue frosting.  The inside of the cake is 6 layers, with each layer being one color of the rainbow!  I embellished her cupcake cake with some fondant flowers and a butterfly on top.  I added gold trimming to the flowers and butterfly for some added elegance!  We actually did a second smash cake session because we wanted a more white and brighter background, so her second cake that I made her had normal buttercream frosting since it was softer by nature and we hope it'll stick to her face better =P. When we first put her in front of the cake, she literally just ignored it and kept crawling right past it and towards us!  haha.  It's so funny but it made sense since she has NO idea what sweet deliciousness sat right in front of her!  So we had to help her along and took and frosting and put it in her mouth.  She loved it!  However, she didn't "smash" the cake or grab it herself.  She's quite a diva and we ended up having to break apart the cake ourselves and then feed it to her haha.  A few times she did seem quite excited and waved her arms in the air and rubbed the cake all over her arms...Overall, it was a lot of fun memories to watch her enjoy her first birthday cake!!  Thank you SO MUCH to our photographers Drexelle at D. Park Photography, Janet from Purely Capitvating Photography and to Mieng Saetia for taking these beautiful cake smash photos!!!  The turnaround on these photos were amazingly fast and we appreciate all the hard work and accommodations you've made just for our Lily pad!!!  Thank you!!!

Words cannot describe how I feel about our little angel being 1 years old.  She is the joy of our lives and she deserves the very best in everything.  All our hard work, late nights, exhaustion, and stress is all worth it to see our baby have a great time and have a huge smile on her face the whole time!  She also already watched her first Disney movie, only 1/3 of it, and it's The Little Mermaid.  She loves to sit on my lap with and watch while chomping away at cheerios from her snack catcher!  I just watch her in amazing at how she's slowly becoming a little toddler, and I just can't get enough of how cute she does every little thing!  I love that her forehead crinkles every time she takes a bite of her cheerios, more like stuff her mouth with 3-4 cheerios, and how she gives me sweet kisses on the cheek, and how she knows to say "mom" every time she wants something!!  This first year has flown by and so much has happened with so many memories.  She's even has a career as a baby model and has made a good amount towards her college fund already!  We can't wait to see what other adventures Lily has in store for us.  Each day is a blessing with her and we cannot ask for a better life than this!  Happy 1st Birthday our sweet baby Lily!  We love you to pieces, forever and a half times double infinity!!!

UPDATE:  Thank you to D. Park Photography for capturing Lily's 1st Birthday, our party got featured on Hostess with the Mostess, check out the article HERE!

Happy 1st Birthday Emmy!

Happy 1st Birthday Emmy!!  I got the honor and pleasure of making dessert for Emmy's 1st birthday party!!!  I made a 3 tier cake where the bottom two tiers are fake.  The top tier is a "sugar-free" apple cake with raisins (the recipe called for chopped walnuts but I omitted them for baby allergy reasons) with a "sugar-free" cream cheese frosting!  I also made red velvet and french vanilla cupcakes, french vanilla cake pops, and individually wrapped party favor sugar cookies with a personalized tag!  I wish you Emmy a wonderful new year in your life, you are so special, sweet and greatly loved by everyone you meet!!  You are so cute and your personality is so precious!  You're a joy to be around and we all love your beautiful smile and awesome dance moves!!  I'm so happy I got to help make your birthday a little more sweet.  Here's to many many more birthdays to come!!  Photo credits goes to Nelly Chung at Modern Element Photography!!! Happy 1st Birthday Charlotte!

Happy 1st birthday Charlotte!!!!  I had the honor and pleasure of making Charlotte's 1st birthday display cake for her big birthday bash this past weekend!  Her party theme was based on cute pretty hot air balloons, and so my friend Sarah (Charlotte's mom) asked me to make this designed cake for her!  It was really fun to make, and I was so honored that it got to be featured on their beautiful center display table!  Since this is a display cake, the inside of the cake are foam dummies, but the rest are all made of fondant.  The banner is held up by two toothpicks though and on one of the hot air balloons I used edible pearl candy for decorations. Sarah's flourist also put the cake stand on a patch of grass surrounded by a cute little white picket fence!  All of Sarah's hard work and creativity really paid off because this party was so beautifully decorated and was a lot of fun!  They even had a bubble show!!!  (All photos are courtesy of Mieng Saetia!  Thanks Mieng!)

I wish Charlotte a wonderful happy and healthy new birth year!  She's only started walking, but she's already running through our minds and filling up our hearts!  She is so cute and cuddly, I can play with her all day!  Her cheeky smile is too adorable!!  She has two wonderful parents who love her so much and take such great care of her as well!  Thank you Jack and Sarah for create such a beautiful girl, and for sharing her with us!  Here's to many many many more birthday celebrations to come!!!  Happy Birthday 1st Charlotte!  We love you!

Cute Winter Formal Proposal

My cousin, Leilani, had a super sweet idea to ask her friend, Johnny, to the Winter Formal at her school!  The lucky fellow plays basketball, just like her, so she came up with this super clever, cute, and sweet way to ask him to be her date at the dance!  She asked me to make her chocolate cupcakes with basketball decorations on top. You can sorta see in the photo that I added a bumpy texture to the basketball as well to add a subtle element of 3D!  Here's a picture of how she decorated his locker, so amazingly creative and cute!  Of course after being blown away by Leilani's sweet gesture, Johnny said yes!

I'm so proud and happy for you Leilani, have a great time at the winter formal!  Here's a picture of the sweet, cute, happy couple!!!
