Iron Man Birthday Cake

My company was having a surprise birthday party for my boss and the theme was Iron Man since Iron Man 2 recently came out. I was asked to make the birthday cake, so it was only fitting to make the Iron Man helmet for the cake! This is a simple design, I tried to mix some gold luster dust with corn syrup to make the yellow part of the helmet look more gold...but it's hard to see it in the photo. I think overall it didnt turn out too bad! This cake is a French Vanilla cake with basic buttercream frosting, covered with satin ice fondant and black piping gel. The cake may not be lethal, but it sure can be used as a weapon to kill anyone's sweet tooth =P.

  1. Omgoodness what a great Iron Man cake! He's super hard to capture and you did such a great job! I recently made some Avengers cake pops that I wanted to share! Would love it if you checked 'em out!
